Bucs sweep a doubleheader against Bradley on Saturday

ETSU outscores the Braves 25-5 on the day

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 14, 2026) – The ETSU baseball team swept a doubleheader against Bradley on Saturday afternoon from Thomas Stadium. ETSU won the first game of the day in seven innings by a score of 15-2 before wrapping up the twin bill with a 10-3 victory. The pair of wins not only clinches the series win for the Bucs but also improves their overall record to 13-5 this spring.

Game One Recap – The first game of the day was all Buccaneers. ETSU reached 15 runs scored in a game for the third time this season and held its opponent to two runs or fewer for the sixth time. The Buccaneers scored two or more runs in all but one of the six innings they took at-bats in during game one. ETSU's pitchers allowed just two unearned runs in the win and stranded 11 Bradley runners on base as well.

The Bucs totaled 11 hits (four for extra bases) and worked 11 walks to help fuel the win. Axel Melendez went 2-for-2 with a home run, a stolen base, four RBI and three runs scored. Tyler Fetterman (3-for-3, two RBI, two runs scored) and Henry Ferguson (2-for-4, two RBI, one run scored) also had multiple hits and drove in more than one run against the Braves.

ETSU also shined on the mound. Michael Harpster threw the first five innings and picked up his second win of the season. Harpster did not allow an earned run in his five innings with four hits and struck out six. Liam Thatcher and Logan Grass followed Harpster out of the ETSU bullpen and turned in scoreless appearances in their respective 2026 debuts.

Game Two Recap – In the second game of the day, the Bucs did all their damage offensively in the middle innings. ETSU scored four in the third, one more in the fourth and five in the fifth to reach 10 runs for the eighth time this season and for the fourth consecutive game. On the mound, ETSU's pitchers had Bradley's hitters guessing with a season-high 16 strikeouts spread across four pitchers.

Ferguson and Melendez continued their stellar day at the plate with another two-hit, two-RBI performance in game two. Ty Galusky and Ian Guanzon provided some support towards the bottom of ETSU's order with each player going 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Luke Matlock bashed the lone home run for the Bucs in game two, which was his second in the past week.

Cooper Jones made his second start of the season and shut down Bradley tossing 4.1 shutout innings with eight strikeouts. Jones, who earned his first win of his career, has begun his career as a Buc with 12.1 scoreless innings. Reid Brosnan (1.2 innings) and Reilly Byers (one inning) continued Jones' efforts out of the bullpen as both relievers did not allow a run in during their respective appearances.

Next Up – ETSU will look to sweep the series against Bradley tomorrow afternoon in the final game of the four-game set. First pitch is set for Noon from Thomas Stadium.
