VISION

To create an inclusive culture that emphasizes and unites the importance of holistic health for ETSU Division I student-athletes across various platforms including but not limited to mental health, emotional wellness, and performance.

MISSION

The mission of ETSU's Student-Athlete Wellness is to provide comprehensive support to enhance the wellness of student-athletes on and off the field. Through an integrated care model, we work to provide the best support outside of academic and athletic commitments to Division I student-athletes. We strive to create an environment of safety and understanding, where our student-athletes are empowered to ask for help and receive the care and support they need.

SERVICES

One-on-One Counseling

  • Confidential, personalized individual counseling visits
  • Some student-athletes may benefit from one visit, whereas others may benefit from multiple visits; this is determined collaboratively on a case-by-case basis with the student-athlete and mental health professional.
  • Intervention modalities include: Cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, person-centered therapy, and strength-based therapy.

Team Sessions

  • Team or group sessions are available for ETSU's Division I athletic teams and are developed in collaboration with the students, coaches, staff and/or administrators
  • They are designed to provide a safe, supportive space for athletes to share their experiences and learn from one another.
  • Topics include but are not limited to optimizing self-talk, leadership, goal achievement, effective communication, stress management, mindfulness, and performance enhancement.

Psychoeducational Workshops

  • Psychoeducational services may include educational seminars, coping skill workshops, guided relaxation opportunities, and other educational programs designed to help athletes better understand and manage their mental health.
