JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - East Tennessee State University men's golf team heads to Dallas, Texas, for the Trinity Forest Invitational, Sunday-Tuesday, at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
The field consists of Southern Methodist, Furman, Chattanooga, Rice, Howard, San Diego, Louisiana Tech, Loyola Marymount, South Alabama, Baylor, UC Davis, UNLV, Abilene Christian, Southern California, and Tulsa.
First on the tee for East Tennessee State is
Erik Tjarnberg, with a 69.33 scoring average this season. Tjarnberg won the Highlands Invitational with a 202, 14-under-par finish that allowed him to earn his first collegiate victory in just his second start. The freshman had six birdies and an eagle to shoot a seven-under 65 in his final round.
Next is Veigar Heidarsson with a 70.83 scoring average. He finished the Highlands Invitational in a tie for third place after his final round two under 70. He had three birdies in the final round to finish the tournament at a 209, seven under par.
Richard Saunders is next, averaging 73.50 strokes per round. He finished in a tie for 15th place at the Highlands Invitational.
Up next on the tee is
Gavin Tiernan with a 74.00 scoring average on the season. He also finished in a tie for 15th place in Chicago.
Oli Blackadder rounds out the Buccaneer's lineup, averaging 73.83 strokes per round. He finished in a tie for 39th place in Chicago.
The Bucs are paired with Rice and Abilene Christian, with tee times beginning at 12:25 p.m.
