CHICAGO, Ill. - East Tennessee State University men's golf team earned its first victory of the season as Erik Tjarnberg earned his first collegiate victory Tuesday at the Highlands Invitational presented by Turtleson at Chicago Highlands. 

Tjarnberg's 202, 14-under-par finish allowed him to earn his first collegiate victory in just his second start. The freshman had six birdies and an eagle to shoot a seven-under 65 in his final round. 

His 202 54-hole total is tied for the fifth-lowest 54-hole total in program history, with his 65 tying for the fourth-lowest 18-hole score in program history. 

The tournament title came down to Tjarnberg's 18th hole, in which he made an eagle on the 573-yard par five to lift East Tennessee State to its 21-under-par first-place finish, one stroke ahead of the 20-under second-place Wake Forest. 

Veigar Heidarsson finished the tournament in a tie for third place after his final round two under 70. He had three birdies on the day to finish the tournament at a 209, seven under par. 

Gavin Tiernan and Richard Saunders each finished the event in a tie for 15th place. Tiernan had a  round two over par 74, giving him a two-over-par 218 finish. Saunders shot a one-over-par 73 in his final round for his 218 tournament total. 

Oli Blackadder rounded out the Buccaneers' lineup with a final-round three-over-par 75 to finish the tournament in a tie for 39th place with a seven-over-par 223. 

Mikkel Tingsted Blum and Theophile Lebrun competed individually. Blum had a final round one over par 73 to finish in a tie for 32nd place with a six over par 222. 

Lebrun had a final round two-over-par 74 to finish in 57th place with an 11-over-par 227. 

Up next, the Bucs will head to the Lone Star State for the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas, Oct. 4-6.
