DENMARK (July 5, 2024) – ETSU signee Kristian Bressum earned medalist honors at the 2024 Danish International Amateur Championship, which concluded play on Friday at Silkeborg Ry Golf Club in Denmark.
Bressum, who is transferring to ETSU after playing three seasons at Saint Mary's, won the prestigious tournament at 4-under-par 284 (68-75-70-71). Bressum, one of three golfers in the field to finish below par, won by one shot over Germany's Morris Schiefner.
Bressum opened the tournament on Tuesday with an opening round score of 4-under 68 to hold a two-shot lead. The Buccaneer registered six birdies in the opener, and with low scores hard to come by in round two, Bressum still held a share of the top spot on the leaderboard through 36 holes. Bressum carded a 3-over 75 in round two and was tied for the lead at 1-under 143.
Bressum made his move to the title thanks to posting back-to-back sub-par rounds to hoist the trophy.
In Thursday's third round, Bressum was nearly flawless as he registered four birdies, 13 pars and one double-bogey to fire a 2-under 70 – the second lowest round of the day. Bressum finished with a 71 in Friday's finale to hold off Schiefner by one and Cedric Otten by three strokes.
Bressum finished the tournament with 17 birdies or better, which was tied for the most among the field, while he led the field in par-5 scoring at 4.44. Bressum carded an eagle on the par-5, No. 8 in Friday's final round, resulting in one of just four eagles on the hole for the week. Bressum went out with a 4-under 32 on the front nine Friday.
