JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - East Tennessee State University men's golf program heads to compete in the Highlands Invitational, Sept. 21-22, at the Chicago Highlands Club in Chicago, Illinois.
East Tennessee State placed second in the event last season, shooting 16 under par as a team.
The field consists of Maryland, Western Carolina, Toledo, Louisiana-Lafayette, Charleston, Indiana, Wake Forest, North Alabama, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Michigan, and Southern Illinois.
Erik Tjarnberg is set to tee off first for the Buccaneers after finishing in a tie for fifth place at the Inverness Intercollegiate, Sept. 13-15. Tjarnberg averages 71.33 strokes in his three rounds played, shooting 70 in both the second and third rounds.
Veigar Heidarsson is next off the tee, averaging 72 strokes in his first three rounds of play. He finished in 12th place at the Inverness Intercollegiate.
Third off the tee is
Oli Blackadder after a 26th-place finish in Toledo, Ohio. Blackadder averaged 73.33 on the season with a low round of 71 in the second and third rounds at Inverness Club.
Fourth up is
Richard Saunders, who finished in 52nd place in the team's last showing. Saunders averaged 74.33 strokes per round with a low round of 69 in the second round of the Inverness Intercollegiate.
Rounding out the Bucs' lineup is
Gavin Tiernan after finishing in 67th place in his last outing. He averages 75.33 strokes per round with a low of 71 in the first round.
Theophile Lebrun and Mikkel Blum will compete as individuals.
The 54-hole event begins tomorrow with the Bucs' tee times beginning at 8:50 a.m. (ET). The Buccaneers are playing alongside Wake Forest and Coastal Carolina.
