TOLEDO, Ohio - East Tennessee State University men's golf team sits in a tie for sixth place after shooting 295 in the first round of the Inverness Intercollegiate on Sunday at Inverness Club.
East Tennessee State is currently tied with Texas Tech, Michigan, and Auburn at 11 over par. The Buccaneers are one stroke ahead of Loyola Marymount and two strokes behind Purdue.
Gavin Tiernan led the Bucs with an even-par 71 in the first round. The sophomore had four birdies and sits in a tie for eighth place.
Veigar Heidarsson is second on the leaderboard for the Bucs after a first-round two-over-par 73. He currently sits in a tie for 20th place.
Third up was Erik Tjarnberg with a first round three over par 74 to sit in a tie for 33rd place individually.
Richard Saunders sits in a tie for 67th place after an opening-round six-over-par 77, while Oli Blackadder is in a tie for 73rd after his first-round seven-over-par 78.
The Inverness Intercollegiate continues tomorrow with the Bucs' tee times beginning at 10:30 a.m. They are paired with Texas Tech and Michigan.
