SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference announced the volleyball weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
Makayla Bays becomes the first Buc to collect a weekly award in the 2025 season.
Bays was selected at the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for her contributions in the ETSU wins over Virginia Tech and Middle Tennessee State during week four of the season. To close out the non-conference action, the sophomore outside hitter boasted 34 kills at 4.25 kills per set with 21 digs, two block assists, one ace and a back-to-back perfect outings on serve-receive with 36 flawless receptions through the eight sets.
Against Virginia Tech, Bays tallied 19 kills for the second time this season and tacked nine digs and 24 perfect receptions to guide the Bucs to a 3-1 victory. In the match against Middle Tennessee State, Bays remained the top offensive contributor with 15 kills and 12 digs for her eight career double-double with 2 block assists, one ace and12 flawless receptions.
After four weeks and 11 matches of action, Bays has collected 150 kills at 3.85/set, 11 aces, 11 block assists, 84 digs and two double-doubles.
