JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - East Tennessee State women's volleyball closed out the Buccaneer Classic presented by Tri-Cities Airport on Saturday afternoon with High Point. The Bucs (4-5, 0-0 SoCon) defeated the Panthers (2-6, 0-0 Big South) in five-sets (16-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 15-11) in Brooks Gymnasium.
NOTABLES
- Makayla Bays was an unstoppable force, boasting a career- and match-high 24 kills on 63 attempts to guide the Bucs to victory. The sophomore outside hitter is the first on the squad to surpass 20 kills in a match this season, while also collecting nine digs, one block and 19 receptions.
- Whitley Rammel stunned with her first career double-double - an elusive kills-blocks one at that. The senior middle blocker notched a career-high nine block assists with one block solo and 12 kills. Through the first three sets, Rammel maintained a hitting percentage of over .430.
- Belle Iosua, the senior opposite hitter, posted a career day, tallying 14 kills for a career-high on the team-high .290 clip with three block assists.
- Setters Alex Kreutzmann and Bailey Gohlke split the offense with 28 assists apiece, both reaching career-highs in the contest. Gohlke, the freshman, tacked on eight digs and the squad's two aces, while Kreutzmann, the redshirt sophomore, reached eight digs.
- Brianna Cantrell took control of the defense, posting the squad's team-high of 12 digs, and her season-high. The senior outside hitter also boasted two block assists with nine kills and 30 receptions.
- Emma MacFerran, the freshman middle blocker, entered the match and made an immediate impact, posting her first career kill, with four block assists, three of which occurred back-to-back-to-back with Rammel in the fifth set.
- Melanie Morris reached double-digit digs for the fourth time in nine matches. The junior libero recorded 11 total, with one assist and five receptions.
- The Bucs totaled 66 kills, 64 assists, two aces, 62 digs and 23 total blocks.

ETSU returns to action in the Virginia Tech Classic over September 18-19 in Blacksburg, Va. The Bucs are set to face Virginia Tech at 6 p.m. on the 18th and will see Radford or Middle Tennessee State on Friday at 1 or 4 p.m.
