SOCON RELEASE
Â
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 28, 2025) – The Southern Conference announced on Monday that ETSU's
Brady Frederick has been named the SoCon Pitcher of the Week for games played between April 21-27. It is the second time this season that Frederick has earned this honor (
April 14) and it is also the second straight week that a Buccaneer pitcher has been awarded this accolade (
Jace Hyde – April 21).
Â
Frederick played a key role in two of ETSU's three wins last week. The Knoxville native tossed the final 4.1 innings in Friday's 8-4 10-inning win at Toledo. Frederick, who earned his fifth win of the season with Friday's effort, did not allow a run and surrendered just two hits to go with four strikeouts in that outing. The sophomore reliever followed that with another stellar appearance on Sunday. On Sunday, Frederick tossed the final 3.2 innings with three strikeouts to help ETSU claim the series win, 5-3. Frederick, who did not allow a run on Sunday either, tallied his second save of the season to clinch the series win for the Bucs. For the week, Frederick tossed eight shutout innings with allowed four hits, two walks to go with seven strikeouts and held opposing batters to a .160 batting average.
Â
As the Bucs enter the last week of April, Frederick ranks among the top 12 in Division I baseball in WHIP (8
th – 0.88), ERA (11
th – 2.10) and hits allowed per nine innings pitched (12
th – 5.61). Furthermore, opposing hitters are hitting just .181 off Frederick in 2025.
Â
Frederick and the rest of the Bucs will return to action on Tuesday when they welcome UNC Asheville to Johnson City. Tuesday's game, which will also be the team's Senior Day, is set to get underway at 5 p.m. from Thomas Stadium.
