KENNESAW, Ga. (March 1, 2025) – East Tennessee State University softball dropped its opening contest of March 10-3 to St. John's.
The Buccaneers only mustered four hits in the defeat, three of which came in the three-run third inning. Sophomore infielder
Makayla Veglia had an RBI double, and senior infielder
Halle Laramie had the only other RBI for ETSU.
The Red Storm scored a pair in the first off of RBI singles, and pushed two more runs across in the third and fourth off solo home runs. The 4-0 lead would hold despite a three-run rally from the Blue & Gold.
St. John's continued applying offensive pressure in the fifth, sixth, and seventh, adding six total runs behind a strong four-run top of the sixth. The Bucs went down in order in those frames, and lost 10-3.
Next, ETSU will conclude the Kennesaw State Tournament against St. John's at 12:30 and against Kennesaw State at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
