JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 15, 2025) – East Tennessee State University softball dropped the fifth game of the ETSU Invitational 10-2 to Dartmouth on Saturday.
The Buccaneers mustered just six hits in the loss despite a quick start. Junior outfielder
Abigail Taylor led off with a single and was brought in on an RBI single by senior infielder
Sara Muir in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead, as ETSU was the designated visitor.
The Bucs' pitching never gained traction in the circle, though. Dartmouth opened with back-to-back doubles, scoring both runners to take a 2-1 lead, and added two more in the second on a home run, single, stolen base, wild pitch and sacrifice fly.
The Big Green scored three in the third frame before ETSU finally managed a clean inning trailing 7-1 in the fourth. The Bucs got a run back in the fifth but left the bases loaded, and Dartmouth scored three over the next two innings for the run-rule win.
Next, ETSU is scheduled for a third game against Dartmouth at noon on Sunday, March 16.
