Bucs drop Sunday matchup with Dartmouth

ETSU gives up 9 runs in loss to Big Green

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 16, 2025) – East Tennessee State University softball lost the final game of the ETSU Invitational 9-4 to Dartmouth on Sunday.

Senior infielder Cameron Young led the Bucs with a 2-for-3 day and three RBI, including her first home run of the season in the third inning.

Senior Sara Muir drove in junior Abigail Taylor in the top of the first to give ETSU a 1-0 lead. Muir started the game in the circle and pitched well through the first three innings, allowing one run in the third, before the Dartmouth bats broke through in the fourth, scoring five runs off three ETSU pitchers to take a 6-2 lead.

Young drove in two more runs in the fifth to cut the Big Green's lead to 6-4, but the Buccaneers, who only tallied seven hits in the contest, were unable to get any closer.

Dartmouth added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh and won, 9-4.

Next, ETSU continues its heavy home slate in the month of March with a doubleheader against USC Upstate beginning at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18.
