The Bucs are led by SoCon preseason player of the year, senior infielder
Cameron Young. Young hit .394 across her junior campaign with 17 doubles, 23 RBI and a 1.013 OPS, highlighted by a 3-for-5, two double, two RBI outing in a win over Kennesaw State.
Young only struck out 14 times on the season despite finishing fourth on the team in plate appearances. Her .394 average and 17 doubles both ranked first among all players in the SoCon in 2024. The Knoxville, Tenn., native also posted an impressive .973 fielding percentage, primarily at third base, while starting and playing 42 of ETSU's 50 games en route to a first team all-conference selection.
Junior outfielder
Brylee Mesusan and senior infielder
Riley Nayadley were each named preseason second-team All-SoCon. As a sophomore, Mesusan hit .349 with 24 stolen bases, the latter of which ranked second in the conference. Nayadley hit .321 with five doubles, three home runs and a team-high 27 RBI across her junior campaign.
The Bucs return senior pitcher/infielder
Sara Muir to the staff, alongside junior outfielder/pitcher
Taylor Suchy. New faces to keep an eye on in the circle include junior Gulf Coast State transfer RHP
Marissa Barnes and freshman RHP
Eden Muncy.
Across the board, the Blue & Gold hope to boast a deeper lineup, with 32 players total, including 11 utility players, eight pitchers, eight infielders, six outfielders and four catchers. Newcomers to watch in the field include Grand Canyon transfer catcher
Leinani Lutu and College of Saint Rose transfer outfielder
Nayana DeAmelia.
ETSU will face UMass and Kent State twice, along with the host Campbell. The Minutemen went 20-35 in 2024, and made a run to the Atlantic 10 semifinals before falling to St. Louis. Sarah Keagy and Julianne Bolton lead the returners for UMass.
The Golden Flashes went 26-23 in 2024, and return seven players to a roster nearly half the size of ETSU's with 17 players. Savannah Wing and Delaney Robeson return in the field, and Kent State added Aaralyn Nogay and Katie Jo Morey, among others, to the fold. All four pitchers are new to the roster, led by Abbey Pochie and Delaney Nagy.
Campbell went 37-21-1 in 2024, winning the CAA regular season championship, but fell to UNC Wilmington in the conference championship game. The Fighting Camels lost pitcher Isabella Smith to Oklahoma, but returns sophomore Hannah Leierer in the circle. The Fighting Camels also bring back two of their top five hitters in senior Tyra Parker and junior Charlie Montgomery.
