Box Score CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - East Tennessee State softball dropped to the losers bracket after a loss to No. 3 Western Carolina in game four of the Southern Conference Tournament on Thursday evening. The Bucs (22-29, 8-13 SoCon) fell 1-2 to the Catamounts (34-22, 12-9 SoCon).

How It Happened:
Western Carolina secured their only runs of the contest in the bottom of the second inning after a pair of singles were driven in from a sac fly and a botched squeeze from ETSU allowed one run to steal home. The Bucs were consistent, landing on base six of seven innings but were only able to capitalize in the top of the sixth after Boone doubled and was driven in by a double by Lutu. The Bucs out-paced the Catamounts 10-7 in hits.
- Whitney Boone led the offense on a 2-2 outing with two doubles and a sac hit. Boone was the lone run to cross the plate for the Bucs and the outfielder extends her hit streak to five games.
- Hailey Porter went 3-4 at the plate with two putouts.
- Abigail Taylor went 2-3 with a successful bunt to contribute to the 10 team hits.
- Riley Croley owned three of the eight assists from the team alongside one putout and one hit.
- Riley Martens led the team in putouts with eight.
- Leilani Lutu tallied the sole RBI on the outing with her double in the top of the sixth. She registered two putouts and one assist behind the plate.
- Marissa Barnes and Taylor Suchy combined for the six innings on the mound with just seven hits surrendered and two strikeouts.
- The team totaled 29 at-bats, one run, 10 hits, one RBI and registered eight assists through the 18 putouts.
