ETSU bounced back with a pair of strong wins over Mercer and Samford, holding both below 50 points. The Bucs have now held nine opponents under 50 points on the season, matching their total from the 2023-24 season and will aim for the Mock Brown era record of 13 such occasions (2022-23) with ten regular season games remaining.
The Blue & Gold excelled at scoring off turnovers against the Bears and Bulldogs, a trend that's proven steady in wins over the course of the season. ETSU is 8-0 when scoring at least 20 points off opponent turnovers, and hasn't won a game in which it has been outscored in that category.
The trademark Buccaneer defense will be tasked to travel south to slow down a Chattanooga team that averages 61 points per game. The Mocs are led by Caia Elisaldez, who averages 10.8 points and 4.6 assists per game. All five Chattanooga starters average at least 7.0 points per game.
5th year guard
Courtney Moore will look to continue her streak of six consecutive games scoring in double-digits, and will try to do so for the first time against Chattanooga since Feb. 12, 2022, the last time ETSU beat Chattanooga. The only player or staff member that's been on a team to beat the Mocs, Moore scored 15 with seven rebounds on the road in the win.
The Bucs and Mocs both swept Samford and Mercer over the weekend. Both squads fell to UNC Greensboro on the road, while Chattanooga narrowly edged Western Carolina, but the Catamounts prevailed over ETSU during the first weekend of conference play. In nonconference play, FGCU notched wins over both schools. The Mocs beat Lipscomb but lost to Tennessee Tech, both at home, while the Bucs fell to Lipscomb on the road and beat the Golden Eagles in Johnson City.
The Buccaneers trail the all-time series with their in-state rivals 25-71. ETSU has lost all five contests during the Mock Brown era. The Blue & Gold came within two of the Mocs on the road in 2023-24, falling 52-50, the closest game of the last two years.
Kendall Folley scored ten and
Brecken Snotherly grabbed six rebounds in the loss.
