Paige Lyons added to 2024-25 women’s basketball roster

Atlanta native spent two seasons at East Carolina, played at Wagner in 2023-24

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 24, 2024) – East Tennessee State University women's basketball head coach Brenda Mock Brown and her staff continued adding pieces to the 2024-25 roster as they announced on Friday the signing of Paige Lyons.

Lyons, a 5-foot-6 guard from Atlanta, played two seasons at East Carolina before spending the 2023-24 season at Wagner.

"We are excited to welcome Paige Lyons into an already dynamic combination of newcomers and returners," said Brown. "I recruited Paige when I was the head coach at UNC Asheville because she was a proven winner and am thrilled to have the opportunity to coach her at ETSU. She brings an element of competitiveness, athleticism and explosiveness that will add to our experienced backcourt, and a passion to lead that will make a positive impact on our program. Paige places a high value on team culture and wants to win a championship while she is here at ETSU, and we are ready to get to work with her and the rest of the team in July!"

In her one season at Wagner, Lyons played in 25 games with 18 starts, while averaging 6.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.3 assists in 23.6 minutes per game. Lyons ranked second on the team in steals (43). The Atlanta native scored in double figures seven times, including a career-high 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting (3-for-5 from three) against Merrimack in the season finale. Lyons also added five assists and two steals in that contest. Earlier in the year in a non-conference game against Columbia, Lyons finished with 18 points, six assists and four steals, while she posted seven points, five steals and two rebounds in her debut against Rutgers.

Lyons spent the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons at East Carolina where she played in 14 games. The guard redshirted the 2022-23 season at ECU.

Lyons played at Dutchtown High School where she averaged 16.8 points, 2.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 3.9 steals her senior season. Lyons earned first team all-state honors after leading Dutchtown to the state final four. Lyons played her first three seasons at Wesleyan School where she won a state title her freshman year as she averaged 10 points and three assists per game that season. Lyons averaged 14 points per game as a sophomore where she took the Wolves back to the state championship game. In her junior season, Lyons directed Wesleyan to the final four of the state tournament after averaging 13.8 points, 4.3 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 steals per contest.
