JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 9, 2023) – The ETSU volleyball team will wrap up the regular season this weekend when it travels to take on The Citadel and Wofford. The Bucs will take on the Bulldogs at 1 p.m. on Friday before traveling to Spartanburg to take on Wofford at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

ABOUT THE BUCS
- ETSU dropped a pair of matches to Samford (3-2) and Mercer (3-1) last weekend. With the pair of losses, the Buccaneers are 5-20 overall and 5-9 in SoCon play.
- Jenna Forster had a stellar weekend for the Bucs as she totaled 30 kills in the two matches vs. Samford and Mercer. Forster's top performance from the week was when she notched a season-high 17 kills against the Bears on Saturday.
- Junior Abbey Thomas has been ETSU's top blocker all season long as she enters the final weekend of the regular season ranked third in the league averaging 0.92 blocks per set. Furthermore, only Wofford's Sarah Barham has registered more blocks in SoCon play than Thomas (61 to 55).
- The Buccaneers notched their first road wins of the season two weeks ago at Chattanooga and at UNC Greensboro. Both of those victories came in five sets.
ABOUT THE CITADEL
- The Citadel is having its best season in program history in 2023. The Bulldogs, who were the second to last undefeated team in the country, have compiled an overall record of 24-2 and 12-2 in SoCon action.
- The Bulldogs clinched a share of the SoCon regular season title last weekend. With one win in either of its last two matches, The Citadel will claim the championship outright.
- Ali Ruffin continues to be the top offensive option for the Bulldogs. She ranks sixth in the country with 460 kills and seventh in kills per set (4.65).
- Historically, ETSU has held the edge against the Bulldogs winning 29 of the 31 all-time matches between these two programs. The Citadel, however, won the matchup earlier this season in three sets in Johnson City.
ABOUT WOFFORD
- Wofford, which has an overall record of 18-7 and 9-5 in league play, has an outside chance at the No. 2 seed in the upcoming SoCon Tournament.
- The Terriers dropped four straight matches in mid-October but have reeled off three straight victories since then.
- Wofford's defense remains the strength of its team as it ranks 18th (.159) in opponent hitting percentage.
- The Bucs are 28-10 all-time against the Terriers. ETSU also swept the Terriers earlier this season in Johnson City. With that victory, ETSU has won the last three tilts between these two programs.
UP NEXT
Following this weekend, the Bucs will turn their attention to the SoCon Volleyball Tournament. The tournament will begin with a match between the No. 8 and No. 9 seed on Monday or Tuesday night.
