The Buccaneers will suit up after nine days away from competition. They last took the field in a 2-0 loss at Clemson on August 23. Prior to that, they snapped a seven-game road winless streak with a 1-0 victory over Queens on August 21 thanks to a late goal from freshman center back
Frank Manrod. After just two games in August, the Bucs will play four in the first 12 days of September and nine total for the month, including USC Upstate, Longwood on September 5, and Belmont on September 12.
The Spartans have four different goal scorers in three games this season and just got their first win of 2026, 3-0 over West Florida on Thursday. They were picked third in the Big South's preseason poll in their second season under head coach Mike Antoniewicz.
This is the 10th meeting between ETSU and USC Upstate in men's soccer. The Bucs lead the series 4-1 with four draws, but the Spartans have a slight edge of late, winning the 2024 meeting in Spartanburg 2-0 and tying the preceding two meetings. ETSU's last win against USC Upstate came October 30, 2013. Luis Calzadilla scored twice in a 4-1 victory late in the season on the way to ETSU's second Atlantic Sun championship in three years.
