BOONE, N.C. (April 21, 2026) – The ETSU baseball team dropped a 3-1 midweek game on the road at Appalachian State on Tuesday night. With Tuesday's loss, the Buccaneers move to 25-13 overall this season.
The Buccaneer pitching staff was extremely efficient on Tuesday. ETSU allowed just three runs on five hits in the contest on just 91 pitches thrown.
Cody Carwile had the longest outing for ETSU at 1.1 scoreless innings, but
Logan Grass,
Colin Eaton,
Tyler Kropis,
Andrew Cotten, and
Evan Rolison also had scoreless appearances on Tuesday.
ETSU was limited to just five hits in the contest.
Nate Conner had the lone multi-hit effort for a Buc (2-for-3, one run scored).
Tristan Curless,
Gabe Juarez, and
Andrew Palmer accounted for the other three hits, which were all singles.
Both teams scored in the first inning on Tuesday. Conner started the game with a single and advanced to second on an error.
Jamie Palmese then brought Conner home to score the game's first run with a sacrifice fly. App State was quick to answer. A pair of singles and a double chased home two runs for the Mountaineers to put them out front, 2-1.
ETSU's and App State's pitching staffs traded zeros for the next few innings until the bottom of the sixth. App State's Kameron Miller launched a solo home run over the left field wall to push the Mountaineer lead to two runs, 3-1.
With the Mountaineers up by two, the Bucs brought the tying run to the plate in each of the last two innings but did not come up with a big hit to pull closer to App State as the Mountaineers held on for the 3-1 win.
The Bucs will return to action on Friday when they begin a three-game series at Western Carolina. First pitch for game one between ETSU and WCU is set for 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
