JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - East Tennessee State softball dropped the series finale versus UNC Greensboro on Sunday afternoon to exit the opening weekend of league play winless. The Bucs (12-11, 0-3 SoCon) fell to the Spartans (22-12, 3-0 SoCon) 0-9 at Betty Basler Field on Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened:
UNCG was able to collect a season-high eight walks from the ETSU pitching staff alongside their eight hits to power the 9-0 victory over ETSU. A two-run home run opened scoring for the Spartans and the eight walks combined with a two-run Buccaneer error allowed for the final seven to cross the plate. ETSU was unable to get going offensively, recording just three hits in the contest with one walk from UNCG.
- Tiare Rieger, Leinani Lutu and Payton Moore were the lone Bucs to tally a hit in the contest. Rieger has now recorded hits in her last seven consecutive appearances for the longest streak on the squad.
- Eden Muncy saw three innings on the mound with two putouts from popups and one strikeout. Cameron Lauretta tallied the team-high of two strikeouts in the contest for her season-high.
- Riley Martens tallied six putouts for the game-high including a diving catch on a bunt for a crucial out in the fourth inning.
- Riley Croley tied her career-high of three assists for the second consecutive contest with two putouts.
- Abigail Taylor collected four putouts for the Bucs in centerfield for her fourth contest of the season with four or more.
- The team totaled 24 at-bats, three hits, drew one walk and tallied four assists through 21 putouts.
