JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 16, 2026) – The No. 75 ETSU women's tennis team will have a busy next week with three matches on tap. First, ETSU will travel to Florida for a pair of matches at Florida Gulf Coast (Tuesday at 10 a.m.) and FAU (Thursday at 10 a.m.) before returning home to Johnson City to take on Appalachian State (Sunday at 1 p.m.).
Following a 1-2 start, the Bucs have reeled off nine consecutive wins and have their record stand at 10-2 on the season and 3-0 in SoCon play. ETSU, which picked up a 6-1 win against Wofford on Friday, moved into the national rankings (No. 75) last Tuesday for the first time in 2026. The nine-match winning streak for ETSU is the team's longest since 2016 when it won 10 in a row to begin that season.
Like the Bucs, Florida Gulf Coast is off to a good start in 2026 with a 12-4 overall record. 11 of FGCU's wins have been on their home court with the lone setback coming against fellow SoCon school Furman on March 2, 4-2.
FAU, meanwhile, will bring a 4-7 record with it into this week's action. While FAU has lost five of its last six matches overall, it has had some close losses this spring with four of its seven losses coming by 4-3 final scores.
Appalachian State currently sits at 6-8 this season. App State has victories against UNC Asheville (7-0), Western Carolina (6-1), Kennesaw State (5-2), UT Arlington (5-2), Davidson (5-2), and Lipscomb (4-3). Savannah Dada-Mascoll leads the way for the Mountaineers with a 12-1 record in singles this spring.
Tuesday will be ETSU's first match against FGCU since both schools were in the Atlantic Sun back in 2014. ETSU has never lost to the Eagles (9-0). As for the series against FAU, ETSU has won two of the three previous matchups in 2008 and 2011. The Owls, however, shut out the Bucs last March, 4-0. ETSU has faced off against App State 17 times since 2001. The Mountaineers last knocked off ETSU in 2019, but the Bucs have won 14 of the last 15 in the series.
