The Bucs fell to Radford but rallied against Lafayette

RADFORD, Va. - East Tennessee State softball split action in the final day of the 2026 Radford Invitational.  The Bucs (12-8, 0-0 SoCon) fell to the Radford Highlanders (10-14, 0-0 Big South) 1-2 in the first contest of the day but rallied to defeat the Lafayette Leopards (6-15, 0-0 Patriot League) 7-4 in the second contest.

GAME 1 NOTABLES (L, 1-2 at Radford)
How It Happened:
Scoring opened early for the Bucs as a pair of Highlander errors brought in the lone run of the outing for the squad.  Boone reached after a single to the pitcher that resulted in a throwing error for Radford.  Porter then singled and Boone was able to advance to second.  A fielding error from centerfield allowed Boone to cross the plate and tally a run.  Fowler held the Highlanders scoreless from the circle until the fifth inning when the Big South opponent was able to collect two runs from a single and a home run.  The Bucs were unable to retaliate and ultimately fell 1-2.
  • The team totaled 23 at-bats, one run, three hits and drew one walk.
  • Haliey Porter, Addison Merritt and Tiare Rieger were the lone Bucs to record a hit in the contest, with Rieger reaching on a double.
