JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 12, 2026) – The No. 75 ETSU women's tennis team will return home on Friday to host Wofford. The tilt between the Bucs and Terriers is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m.
Following a 1-2 start, the Buccaneers have reeled off eight consecutive wins to boost their overall record to 9-2. ETSU, who lost to just No. 11 NC State and Wake Forest, have picked up some stellar wins during this streak including victories on the road at Virginia Tech and at No. 69 Liberty last Friday. For their efforts, the Bucs checked in at No. 75 in the latest ITA National Rankings. It is the fifth straight season that the Bucs have been nationally-ranked.
Wofford, meanwhile, is on a streak of its own with wins in three straight coming into Friday's matchup in Johnson City. The Terriers, who are 6-3 overall, have knocked off Emmanuel, Converse, North Greenville, Longwood, North Carolina Central, and Presbyterian in 2026. Overall, Wofford is 36-14 (.720 winning percentage) in singles and 15-9 (.625 winning percentage) in doubles this spring.
ETSU is 27-4 all-time against the Terriers. The Bucs knocked off Wofford twice last season by scores of 4-3 in Spartanburg and then 4-2 in the semifinals of the SoCon Tournament extending their winning streak in the series to 18. Wofford's last win in the series came in 2014 by a score of 4-2 in South Carolina.
