JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 27, 2026) – The ETSU baseball team got back into the win column on Friday with an 8-2 win over Quinnipiac at Thomas Stadium. Friday's victory boosts the Bucs' record to 7-2 this season.
The Buccaneer offense totaled 15 hits in the series-opening win over the Bobcats, which is tied for the second-most by the team in a game so far this season. Six of the nine Bucs in the starting lineup had at least two hits in the contest, while two had three-hit outings. Quite a bit of the offensive production came towards the bottom of the order as ETSU's number five through eight hitters in the order combined to go 10-for-19 (.526) with five RBI and four runs scored.
On the mound, the Bucs used just two pitchers on the day.
Tadan Bell started the game and turned in his best start as a Buccaneer to date tossing 6.2 innings. Bell allowed one run on seven hits to go with five strikeouts.
Evan Rolison threw the final 2.1 innings for ETSU and allowed one run on three hits along with a pair of strikeouts.
Quinnipiac struck first on Friday with an RBI double in the top of the first inning. Bell, however, settled into a nice groove on the mound to open the door for the comeback. Freshman
Mason Ault gave the Bucs their first lead of the afternoon with a two-run single in the second. A double from
Henry Ferguson an inning later brought home
Tyler Fetterman to make it 3-1 ETSU after three innings of action.
Ferguson, who at the conclusion of Friday's game is now hitting .500 this season in 32 at-bats, pushed the ETSU advantage to three runs with an RBI single in the fifth. The tide of the game seemed to shift decisively towards the Bucs in the sixth thanks to a two-run home run by
Nate Conner and an RBI single by
Ian Guanzon to make the score 6-1 Bucs after six innings of action.
Conner drove in his third run of the game with a single in the seventh. Quinnipiac got one of those runs back with a solo home run in the eighth, but Rolison kept the Bobcats off the scoreboard after that giving ETSU its seventh win at home in eight tries in 2026.
ETSU will aim to secure the series victory tomorrow in game two against the Bobcats. First pitch for Saturday's tilt is set for 2 p.m. from Thomas Stadium.
