The Bucs are looking to rebound after a 2-0 upset loss at Emory & Henry on Thursday. They will look to do so without the services of center back Nicola Brocca, who was sent off in the 64th minute for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity. The game at E&H saw nine Buccaneers make their debut, including transfers Brocca, Sergio Baguena, Jaime Carrillo, Stanley Isaac, and Pablo Ramirez, freshmen Emil Holmberg, Berkay Duman, and Khalifa Atolagbe along with sophomore Rodrigue Moussa.
The Panthers are the preseason favorites once again in the Big South, having won four of the last five regular season titles and three of the last five Big South Tournaments. They began the season ranked #24 in the Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 and defeated #14 Georgetown 2-1 on Thursday behind a brace from redshirt sophomore forward Daniel Lugo. The Panthers boast the Big South's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year (Brendan Kreuger), Midfielder of the Year (Jefferson Amaya), and co-Goalkeeper of the Year (Josh Caron).
