ETSU represents well as SoCon unveils Academic Honors

Nearly 300 student-athletes had a 3.0 GPA for higher for the Bucs in 2024-25

SOCON RELEASE

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (July 30, 2025) – The Southern Conference released its annual Academic Honor Roll and Spring Academic All-Conference Teams on Wednesday and there were several Buccaneers that were recognized for their work in the classroom.

ETSU finished third among SoCon institutions with 293 student-athletes landing a spot on the Honor Roll behind only Mercer (389) and Wofford (314). 57 Bucs added Academic All-Conference honors to their resumes, 89 earned a Commissioner's Medal and 17 posted a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

The Academic Honor Roll was established to recognize the conference's academic success and consists of student-athletes who participated in conference-sponsored varsity sports and posted a 3.0 grade point average or higher for the academic year. The award differs from the Academic All-Conference award, which is determined by cumulative grade point average and involves a participation requirement.

To qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have a 3.30 or higher cumulative grade point average after the spring semester and participate in at least 50 percent of their team's competitions during the most recent season. The Commissioner's Medal is awarded annually to those who attain a grade point average of 3.80 or higher throughout the year.
