Devine announces 2025 volleyball schedule

Bucs set for three power conference opponents, SoCon slate

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 9, 2025) – East Tennessee State University volleyball head coach Lindsey Devine announced the Buccaneers' 2025 schedule on Monday.

"This year's nonconference slate is filled with teams that will prepare us well for our conference schedule," Devine said. "I'm very excited to host the Buccaneer Classic Tournament. All participating teams compete in strong conferences or for conference titles every year."

"Any time our team gets to play in front of the best fans in the SoCon in Brooks Gym is always a special opportunity for our program. We can't wait to see all of you at our 11 home matches this season."

Season tickets are general admission and cost $50.

Flex packs are $35 for 10 tickets. Those tickets can be used at any point in the regular season, and you can use them however you wish. To buy tickets, visit etsutickets.com or call (423) 439-3878.

The Bucs will kick off the 2025 campaign with an exhibition against Gardner-Webb on Friday, Aug. 22, to be followed by a meet-and-greet with the team and staff open to all who attend.

The regular season begins with a trip to Columbia, S.C., to square off with a pair of the three power conference opponents on the schedule, starting with the SEC's Gamecocks on Aug. 29, at South Carolina's tournament. The two-day event also features a Saturday evening matchup with the ACC's Clemson, and a Saturday morning tilt with Campbell.

From there, ETSU will head to Ohio for the Akron/Cleveland State Tournament. Senior middle blocker Whitley Rammel, along with four of the Bucs' seven incoming freshmen, hail from the Buckeye State. ETSU will duel with both Akron and Cleveland State, along with American, from Sept. 5-6. It will be the Bucs' first matchup with the Eagles since 1986, and is the farthest north ETSU Volleyball has traveled since 1995 when the Bucs played at Niagara.

The Buccaneers will then host their first tournament since 2022 on Sept. 12-13. VCU will make the trip to Johnson City for an 11 a.m. showdown on Friday, and the Bucs will battle Western Kentucky on Friday at 6:30. ETSU will close out the Buccaneer Classic Tournament at 2:30 on Saturday against High Point.

Additionally, ETSU will host a pair of neutral site games between High Point and WKU (Friday, 1:30 p.m.); and WKU and VCU (Saturday, noon).

The Bucs move on to the conclusion of the nonconference slate with a trip to Blacksburg, Va., to take on Virginia Tech, the third guaranteed power conference opponent, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18. ETSU will play either Middle Tennessee State or Radford on Sept. 19 as part of the Virginia Tech tournament.

ETSU is set to open SoCon play with a standalone trip to Mercer to face the reigning regular season champion Bears at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26.

An early-season rivalry match follows, as the Bucs will welcome Chattanooga to Johnson City for a noon contest on homecoming weekend, which also marks ETSU Volleyball's Alumni Weekend.

Conference play continues with a road trip to Western Carolina and Samford. The Bucs and Catamounts will play at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 in Cullowhee before a 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT showdown with Samford in Birmingham on Saturday, Oct. 4.

ETSU gets its first full home SoCon weekend on Oct. 9-10. The Citadel travels to Brooks Gym for a 6 p.m. match on Thursday, Oct. 9, and the Bucs will play Furman at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10.

A three-match road trip follows, beginning with a battle with the reigning SoCon Tournament champion Wofford in Spartanburg at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17. ETSU then heads north to Greensboro to face off with the Spartans at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.

The road trip concludes with a standalone trip to Chattanooga to begin the back half of the conference schedule against the Mocs at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23. The latest scheduled start of the regular season comes that weekend, as ETSU and Mercer will play at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. It's ETSU's first scheduled 8 p.m. local time first serve since 2023.

The Bucs continue a three-game homestand as the calendar turns from October to November with a Halloween duel against Samford at 6 p.m. ETSU concludes the homestand with Western Carolina at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The last road trip of the regular season is next. ETSU will travel to Charleston for a match with The Citadel at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, and the Bucs' final road match is set for either 4 or 6 p.m. at Furman on Friday, Nov. 8.

ETSU ends the regular season at home, beginning with a match at 6 p.m. against UNCG on Thursday, Nov. 13. Senior Night is at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, vs. Wofford, when the Bucs will honor their trio of seniors – Brianna Cantrell, Isabelle Iosua and Rammel.
