Volleyball wraps Southern Conference Tournament as Runner-Ups

The Bucs fall in five to Wofford in the Southern Conference Tournament Championship

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - East Tennessee State volleyball completed the scheduled 2025 campaign as the Southern Conference Regular Season Champions and the Southern Conference Tournament Runner-Ups.  The Bucs (23-7, 15-1 SoCon) fell to the Terriers (17-13, 10-6 SoCon) in five sets (23-25, 25-23, 25-17, 19-25, 15-17) in the championship final.

NOTABLES
  • Melanie Morris, the junior libero, collected a career-high 28 digs in the contest, outdoing her previous career-high by four, and tacking on 52 receptions with nine assists.
  • Five members of the Bucs reached double-digit kills with freshman outside hitter Chloe Smith leading the way with 15.  Seniors Brianna Cantrell (OH) and Whitley Rammel (MB) boasted 13 apiece with Rammel hitting .480.  Outside hitters Sophie Davis (Fr.) and Makayla Bays (So.) followed with 12 each, with Davis hitting .455.
  • Bays tallied her 18th career double-double and 12th of the season with her 12 kills and 18 digs, tacking on two aces and two total blocks.
  • Rammel led from the service line with three aces, adding four blocks to her 13 kills on a .480 clip.  
  • Setters Alex Kreutzmann (Jr.) and Bailey Gohlke (Fr.) split the offense evenly, with 28 and 27 assists respectively.  Kreutzmann tallied her sixth career double-double in the contest with her 12 digs.  
  • Gianna Blair, the redshirt sophomore middle blocker, led on defense at the net with six block assists, followed by Rammel and Cantrell with four apiece and Davis, Smith and Bays with two each.
  • The Bucs totaled 70 kills, 67 assists, seven aces, 85 digs and 20 blocks.
