CULLOWHEE, N.C. (April 7, 2025) – The ETSU women's tennis team will begin the final week of the regular season with a road trip to Western Carolina on Tuesday. First serve between the Buccaneers and Catamounts is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
ETSU is riding a four-match winning streak entering Tuesday's clash with the Catamounts. The Bucs shut out UNC Greensboro on Thursday, 7-0, before edging out in-state rival Chattanooga on Saturday, 4-3. Those victories boost ETSU's record to 11-7 overall and 5-0 in SoCon play. The Bucs have won 18 consecutive matches against SoCon opponents dating back to April 2023.
Western Carolina, meanwhile, has won eight straight matches coming into Tuesday's match with ETSU. Overall, the Catamounts are 14-7 (4-1 SoCon) this spring, including an 8-1 mark on their home court. The 2025 WCU team has already matched the most single-season victories in school history.
The Buccaneers are 36-2 all-time against the Catamounts with the first meeting coming in 1978. ETSU has won the last 15 matches between the two programs with WCU's last win coming in 2006. The Bucs are 15-2 all-time against the Catamounts in matches played in Cullowhee.
