The Bucs enter the contest coming off their second SoCon series loss to Furman. Marissa Barnes tossed a complete game shutout in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader for a 1-0 win, but the ETSU bats struggled to gain consistent traction at the plate, dropping the first and third games of the series 6-4 and 7-1.

Senior Cameron Young has led the Buccaneers at the plate throughout the season. The SoCon preseason player of the year is hitting .462, the best mark in the conference and No. 28 in the country. Her .540 on-base percentage ranks 42nd, while her 48 hits sit at 43rd nationally, and both marks are second in the SoCon. Young is also ranked as the seventh toughest player to strike out in the conference.

Junior catcher Leinani Lutu has been excellent defensively. Her 16 runners caught stealing leads the SoCon and ranks third in the country. Gabrielle Fowler has led ETSU in the circle with a 3.09 ERA and 1.46 WHIP through a team-high 45.1 IP.

Samford comes into the weekend at 23-15 (5-1 SoCon). The Bulldogs are led by a cadre of power hitters, with five players boasting four home runs or more. Logan Champion has hit nine, while Olivia Shaw has six. Shaw's .386/.459/.658 slash line leads Samford in all three categories, as do her 44 hits and 13 doubles.

In the circle, Jordyn Partain has thrown the lion's share of the innings, with a 3.87 ERA across 88.2 IP. Olivia Treece has added a 3.15 ERA in 40 innings.
