SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 23, 2025) - Brent Bell was at the top of his craft on top of a mountain this weekend.
The junior from Johnson City earned his second SoCon Men's Field Athlete of the Week award in 2025, the SoCon office announced on Wednesday. Bell set a personal best 54.05m in the hammer throw last Friday to win the event at the App State Open in Boone, North Carolina, and finished third in the shot put with a 15.33m effort the following day. Bell's mark in the hammer throw is the best in the SoCon by nearly two meters.
The weekly honor is Bell's second of the season, making him the only repeat winner of Men's Field Athlete of the Week in the outdoor season to date. It is the fifth weekly honor of the season for ETSU, joining Bell,
Jason Bowers (Men's Track), and Micailah Cook's (Women's Track) wins on March 26, and Tya Blake's (Women's Field) honors on April 9.
Bell and the Bucs will return to competition this weekend in Cullowhee, North Carolina, at the Catamount Classic beginning on Friday.
