HOMEWOOD, Ala. (May 13, 2025) - The ETSU men's track and field team got medal-winning performances from Jason Bowers, Brent Bell, and Ben Smith on Tuesday to push them to fourth place in the 2025 SoCon Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Bowers finished second in both the 1500m and the 5000m races to score 16 points for the Bucs, while Bell snagged silver in the shot put to go with a fourth place finish on Monday in the hammer throw, and Smith set a personal record 21.60 second time in the 200m dash to go with his bronze medal in the high jump on Monday. Smith also set a PR in the 100m at 10.78 seconds, snagging an additional team point with an eighth-place finish.
Other scoring finishes include Logan Wagner fourth in the shot put, Max Smydra finishing fifth in the triple jump, a fifth place finish for D'Shawn Fletcher in the 100m, Cayden Douglas sixth in the high jump with a season best 1.87m jump, and Ethan Fulford fifth in the decathlon with a personal record 6,274 points, taking home top honors in the 110m hurdles and the pole vault as part of the multi-discipline event.
As a team, the Buccaneers scored 85 points and finished fourth, matching their best finish at the SoCon Outdoor Championships since 2019.
