GREENSBORO, N.C. (April 19, 2025) – East Tennessee State University softball dropped the series against UNCG with a 3-1 loss on Saturday.
The Bucs, who fell to 4-11 in the SoCon with the loss, mustered just one hit before the seventh inning, a double from
Riley Nayadley in the fourth.
Sara Muir matched zeroes with the Spartans through the first four innings in the circle, stranding all the runners that reached base. In the fifth inning, though, UNCG manufactured a run to take a 1-0 lead.
The Spartans added a pair more runs off a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth from Grace Loftin. Those insurance runs would prove valuable for UNCG, as
Cameron Young singled to lead off the seventh.
A five-pitch walk to
Taylor Suchy followed before a Spartan error off the bat of
Whitney Boone allowed Young to score to bring the score to 3-1 with only one out. However, the Bucs were unable to bring the runners on base home, and lost by the same score.
ETSU will continue its road swing with its penultimate conference series at Wofford beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.
