ETSU is coming off its fifth consecutive win on Tuesday as it edged out Western Carolina, 4-3. The Bucs will enter the regular season finale with the Paladins sporting a 12-7 overall record that includes an undefeated 6-0 record in SoCon play. All seven of ETSU's losses this spring have been against teams that at one point this season have been nationally ranked by the ITA.
Furman, meanwhile, improved to 17-3 (6-0 SoCon) with a 6-1 victory over Wofford on Wednesday. The Paladins have reached as high as No. 36 in the ITA National Polls this spring. Furman is seeking its 27
th SoCon Regular Season Championship in its history on Saturday. The next closest current league member in terms of regular seasons titles is Chattanooga with three.
The all-time series between the Bucs and Paladins has favored Furman as it has won 37 of the 41 all-time matchups. However, three of ETSU's four wins have been in the last three meetings between these two programs. Each of those victories clinched a SoCon Championship for the Bucs (two tournament, one regular season). ETSU has won just once on Furman's home court and that was in 2015, 5-2.
