CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 6, 2025) – The No. 68 ETSU women's tennis team will face off against its first ranked opponent of the season on Friday as it travels to take on Charlotte. First serve between the Bucs and 49ers is set for 1 p.m.
The Blue and Gold have been playing very well recently as they have won five straight matches and six of their last seven. The only losses for ETSU this season have been against power conference opponents in Kentucky, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Alabama. Last week, ETSU picked up shutout wins against Radford and Mercer at home. In addition to the team's national ranking of No. 68, the doubles team of
Daniela Rivera and
Alessandra Caceres came in at No. 71 in the national doubles' rankings.
Entering the first full week of March, the 49ers are 11-2. Like the Bucs, Charlotte has only lost to power conference opponents this season in Georgia and Clemson. Furthermore, nine of Charlotte's 11 victories have been shutouts, including a 4-0 win over then-No. 64 Tulane last Sunday, 4-0.
Since 1991, the Bucs are 12-7 all-time against Charlotte. The 49ers, however, has knocked off the Bucs in each of the past two seasons including a 4-3 win last season in Johnson City.
