Women’s Tennis resumes SoCon play with matches at Wofford & Samford

ETSU aims to snap three-match losing skid this week

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 27, 2025) – The ETSU women's tennis team will return to SoCon play this weekend with matches at Wofford and Samford. The Bucs will travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on Wofford on Friday at 3:30 p.m. before heading to Alabama to battle Samford on Sunday at 1 p.m.

ETSU enters this week's action with a 7-7 overall record in 2025. The Bucs have faced a tough schedule with all seven of their losses coming against either power conference opponents or teams nationally ranked by the ITA. Individually, Julia Millan leads ETSU with a 10-4 record during the spring season. In doubles, the tandem of Alessandra Caceres and Daniela Rivera have led the charge for the Blue and Gold winning nine of their 12 matches.

Wofford is off to one of its best starts ever with a 13-1 record this spring. The Terriers are 64-17 in singles and 30-11 in doubles action. Wofford's lone loss this season was against Georgia Southern in late February. The Terriers have reeled off eight wins in a row since that setback versus GSU.

Entering the weekend, Samford holds an 8-8 record. Five of Samford's eight wins have been at home. The Bulldogs have split their two SoCon matches with a win over UNC Greensboro and a loss to Western Carolina. Samford has been especially good in doubles matches this season with a collective 27-13 record (.675 winning percentage).

The Bucs have held the historic edge against both Wofford and Samford with a collective record of 31-6. ETSU hasn't lost to the Terriers since 2014, while its last setback against the Bulldogs was in 2015.
