RICHMOND, Va. (Feb. 21, 2025) – The No. 58 ETSU women's tennis team looks to maintain its winning ways on Sunday when it visits VCU in non-conference action. First serve between the Buccaneers and Rams is set for 11 a.m.
ETSU currently has a record of 4-4 this spring. The Bucs have faced a tough early season schedule with five of their eight matches coming against power conference opponents. Despite facing that tough schedule, the Blue and Gold have won four of their last five matches, including a 4-3 win over Minnesota last Saturday. By coming in at No. 58 in the national poll on Thursday, it passes the previous program-best of No. 60 set last spring. Furthermore, the duo of
Daniela Rivera and
Alessandra Caceres were ranked No. 70 in the ITA's National Doubles Rankings.
VCU enters this weekend with an overall record of 4-3. The Rams began the spring season by winning four of their first five matches but have dropped their last two. VCU's four victories have been against Temple (4-2), Navy (4-3), West Virginia (5-2), and ECU (4-3).
Sunday will be the 11
th all-time meeting between the Bucs and Rams. VCU has won seven of the previous 10 matchups, but ETSU has won the last two, including a 4-3 victory last March in Johnson City.
