KENNESAW, Ga. (Sept. 1, 2024) — Despite leading 1-0 at halftime, Sunday's ETSU women's soccer game at Kennesaw State was ruled a no-contest after inclement weather hit the area, resulting in the teams not being able to play the second half.
The Bucs dominated the first 45 minutes with ETSU controlling possession and outshooting the Owls, 14-2, with six of those attempts coming on target.
ETSU scored in the early going when
Grace Eatz found
Sadie Commerford and the freshman midfielder crossed one through near the net. With KSU keeper Aryana Rosenblum unable to secure the ball,
Ruby Teixeira was there to fire one into the back of the net in the sixth minute.
Unfortunately, with ETSU taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, lightning hit the area as the teams were about to start the final 45 minutes. After waiting for over two hours, the game was called and ruled a no-contest.
Per NCAA rules, to make a game official, teams must play at least 70 minutes.
ETSU wraps up its road swing next Sunday when the Bucs travel to Durham, N.C. to take on Duke at 6 p.m.
