After losing to No. 5 Vanderbilt in the season opener in Nashville, the Bucs have rattled off three straight wins, hanging on for a 2-1 win at Longwood on Sunday.
Reagan Fitzgerald has a point in each of the three wins with two goals and one assist. Fitzgerald has 18 career goals, two shy of Terri Miller for ninth-most in program history, and 44 points rank her ninth, just four points away from Miller in eighth.
Other Buccaneers have made major offensive contributions, led by sophomore
Abbey Hayberg's goal and two assists in the last two games.
Jada Cooper and
Alex Beck have also found the net during this three-game winning streak, and
Kassie Estep has assists in consecutive games stepping into a midfield role after spending all of her time last season at center back.
The Panthers were picked fourth in the Sun Belt preseason poll and are well-tested against SoCon opposition. The Bucs will be GSU's third SoCon opponent in regular season play, with a 1-0 loss at Samford and a 3-0 win over Wofford already on the ledger. They return home after a 1-1 draw at Auburn on Sunday where both teams scored inside the first 25 minutes. Senior Aaliyah Faddoul is fourth in the nation with seven goals, including a brace at Wofford on August 23 and a hat trick against Truett-McConnell on August 16.
This is just the second meeting between ETSU and Georgia State in women's soccer. The first came 22 years ago in Atlanta, when the Panthers routed ETSU 3-0 on September 10, 2004.
