(Aug. 17, 2024) – After opening the season on the road Thursday night at UAB, the ETSU women's soccer team looks to bounce back as the Buccaneers gear up for their home opener when they host Eastern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Summers-Taylor Stadium.

ABOUT THE BUCS
- ETSU suffered a hard-fought 1-0 setback at UAB on Thursday night
- Both teams totaled 12 shots each, while Reagan Fitzgerald looked to have scored a goal in the 57th minute; however, even after video replay, the referee decided there wasn't conclusive evidence to reverse the call on the field
- The Blazers scored in the 83rd minute following a free kick from just outside the box as Ashton Blair made an outstanding save on the shot attempt, but Abby Graeser was there for a rebound as she headed in the goal
- Blair made seven saves on the night en route to moving her career total to 134, placing her tied for ninth all-time among Buccaneer leaders … With six more saves, Blair will move into a tie for eighth with Leslie Maczka
- Nineteen Bucs logged minutes Thursday night, including freshmen Sadie Commerford, Jada Cooper and Georgia Shields making their collegiate debuts
- Commerford got the starting nod and played 50 minutes
- The Bucs went 8-1-2 at home last season, marking their best home record since 2016 when ETSU finished 10-1 at Summers-Taylor Stadium
ABOUT EASTERN KENTUCKY
- EKU is coming off a 4-0 setback at Miami (Ohio) on Thursday night
- The Colonels return 20 players from last year's squad, including All-ASUN selections Cianna Miller and Nerea de Diego
- EKU was picked to finish fifth in the ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll
- The Colonels went 5-8-6 last season and had a 4-3-4 mark in conference play
- Prior to opening the season at Miami (Ohio), EKU hosted Louisville in an exhibition match on Aug. 8
SERIES HISTORY
- Sunday marks the fourth all-time meeting between ETSU and Eastern Kentucky
- EKU leads the series, 2-1
- The Bucs won the first-ever meeting 4-2 back on Sept. 2, 2015, while EKU won 3-1 in 2017 and 3-1 in 2018
