LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 23, 2024) – The wait is nearly over for ETSU's
Jason Bowers.
Bowers will make his debut in the NCAA Division I East Track & Field Regional on Friday night at Kentucky's Outdoor Track & Field Facility. Bowers will run the 5000m, which begins at 8:10 p.m.
This marks the first competition for Bowers since the Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which was held May 6-7 in Birmingham, Ala.
Bowers earned his spot in the field after turning in a time of 13:42.68 back on March 28 at the Raleigh Relays. The time ranks 21st in the region and 45th across all of Division I. Of the declared athletes in the 5000m, Bowers ranks 14th in the field of 48 runners.
There will two sections of the race. The top five runners of each section and the next two fastest times will qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held June 5-8 in Eugene, Oregon.
