WINSTON-SALEM, N.C & CULLOWHEE, N.C. (April 18, 2024) – With the Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on the horizon, the ETSU men's and women's track and field teams make their final tune up this weekend.
 
A small group of Buccaneers will compete in the Wake Forest Invite on Friday, while the rest of the Buccaneers travel to Cullowhee, N.C. for the Catamount Classic on Friday and Saturday.

ABOUT THE BUCS
·      Five Bucs will be making the trip to Winston-Salem as Hannah Burkhart (800m), Kiera Snyder (5000m), Miguel Parrilla (800m), Jason Bowers (5000m) and Myles Stoots (steeplechase) will all be in action
·      The last time Bowers was on the track was last month at the Raleigh Relays where he ran a personal best 13:42.68, resulting in the 31st fastest time among NCAA Division I runners this spring and the 12th fastest mark in the region
·      Myles Stoots has the top time in the steeplechase among SoCon runners as he turned in a mark of 9:07.41 last month in Raleigh, while Miguel Parrilla has the second-fastest time in the 800m among SoCon runners (1:50.35, at Raleigh Relays)
·      Like Parrilla, Burkhart ranks second in the SoCon in the 800m (2:12.19, Raleigh Relays), while Kiera Snyder ranks sixth in the 5000m (16:55.51, Raleigh Relays)
·      In Cullowhee, 32 women and 17 men will be competing for the Blue & Gold, including Burkhart and Parrilla pulling double duty
·      Brianna Baker is scheduled to compete in the 100mH, 200m, javelin, high jump and shot put
·      Two of the three Bucs who won gold last weekend in Asheville will also be in action in Cullowhee … Maya Murchison, coming off a win in the high jump, will look to make it back-to-back meets with a gold medal, along with Frania Romero-Barba as she competes in the pole vault
·      Frania will be going head-to-head with sister Diana – who also has a win in the event this season – as she took home the top spot at the Lee University Fast Break Invitational earlier this month
·      Diana leads all SoCon athletes with the top mark of 3.85m in the pole vault, set in the meet in Cleveland, Tenn.
·      On the men's side, Malachi Thomas will be competing for the third straight weekend, while Brent Bell and Logan Wagner look to improve on their marks in the throws … Thomas will be competing in the high jump, while Bell and Wagner will each be showcased in the discus and shot put … Bell will also throw the hammer
·      The women's 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams will be on the track, while the men's 4x400m will also be running in Cullowhee
