#64 Women’s Tennis hosts Furman on Saturday with the SoCon Regular Season Title at stake

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 12, 2024) – The No. 64 ETSU women's tennis team will look to capture its first Southern Conference Regular Season Championship on Saturday when it hosts Furman. First serve for Saturday's match, which will also be the team's senior day, is scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m.

ETSU enters Saturday's contest with the Paladins with a 13-7 record overall and a 6-0 mark in SoCon play. The Bucs tallied a 6-1 win over Samford last Sunday to improve to 7-1 at home this season. This continues ETSU's stellar play in league play as the Bucs are a collective 33-3 in singles and 16-2 in doubles action during SoCon play.

Furman, meanwhile, also enters Saturday's match with an undefeated 6-0 record against conference members in 2024. The Paladins, which are 10-11 overall, have been playing well recently with a record of 8-3 since the beginning of March. All three of those losses came against nationally-ranked teams in No. 63 FAU (5-2), No. 35 Wake Forest (7-0) and No. 46 Charlotte (4-0).

Historically, Furman has held the edge against the Bucs. The Paladins are 37-2 all-time against ETSU. However, the Bucs knocked off Furman last season to win the SoCon Tournament Championship by a score of 4-0.

As mentioned earlier, if the Bucs come away with a win on Saturday it'll mark the first SoCon Regular Season Championship in ETSU's history. The Bucs did win four outright Atlantic Sun Regular Season Titles and had a share of it two other times during their time in that conference.
