Women’s Tennis preps for a pair of matches in Florida this week

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 11, 2024) – The ETSU women's tennis team will have a pair of matches in the Sunshine State this week as it takes on USF on Tuesday and FIU on Friday. Tuesday's match is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., while Friday's is slated to begin at Noon.

ETSU is coming off a 6-1 win over Wofford last Friday. With Friday's victory, the Bucs improve to 7-5 overall and 3-0 in SoCon play. The Buccaneers have been playing well recently with a 7-2 record since the start of February with the only two losses coming on the road at nationally-ranked Tennessee and NC State.

USF enters Tuesday's match with the Bucs with an 8-6 record. Like the Bucs, the Bulls have been playing well recently as they bring a four-match winning streak into Tuesday. Additionally, two of those four victories came against ranked foes in No. 74 Michigan State and No. 54 VCU.

FIU is currently 8-2 on the 2024 season. In last week's ITA national poll, FIU was ranked No. 27. The only two setbacks that the Panthers have on their record to date are losses to Miami and Florida and both of those programs came in at No. 23 and No. 18 in the country, respectively.

The Bucs do not have a ton history between USF and FIU. ETSU won the only match against the Bulls in 2021 by a score of 5-2. FIU, meanwhile, has won all four matchups against the Bucs. Friday's match will mark the fourth straight year that the Bucs and Panthers have clashed.
