ABOUT THE BUCS
- ETSU dropped a 75-64 contest on the road at Wofford on Thursday. Thursday's loss moves ETSU's record to 18-10 overall and 7-6 in league action.
- The Bucs had one of its more balanced games offensively this season on Thursday with four players scoring in double figures. Nevaeh Brown led the way with 13 points with Journee McDaniel (11 points), Meghan Downing (11 points) and Courtney Moore (10 points) also finishing in double figures.
- Defensively, Jaileyah Cotton tallied four steals against the Terriers. The four steals are tied for the most by a Buc this season matching her total against Presbyterian in mid-November and Kendall Folley's four-steal performance against Lipscomb.
- ETSU connected on seven 3-pointers on Thursday bringing its season total to 169. The 169 threes are tied for the seventh-most in program history with the 2014-15 team. The Bucs need one more to move into a tie for sixth and eight more for a tie for fifth place.
- Downing has been one of the top shot blockers in the SoCon this season with 27. If Downing records five or more blocks through the conclusion of the regular season, she'll rank among the top 10 blocking seasons in ETSU history.
- ETSU is looking to close out the regular season with a win for the second straight year. The Bucs have not won back-to-back regular season finales since the 2006-07 and 2007-08 campaigns.
- In the first matchup against Furman this season, the Bucs matched a season-high with 19 made free throws and attempted a 2023-24 high 27 attempts in that contest.
- Saturday is ETSU's last chance to solidify its seeding for the upcoming SoCon Tournament. Currently, the Bucs are the No. 3 seed. If the Bucs finish third, it would mark the first time that ETSU has finished third or better in the SoCon in back-to-back seasons since 2016-17 and 2017-18.
ABOUT FURMAN
- Heading into the regular season finale, Furman holds an overall record of 14-15 and 4-9 in SoCon play.
- The Paladins has played well on their home floor as 10 of their 14 wins have come at Timmons Arena.
- Despite its 4-9 record in the league, Furman leads the conference in assists per game (13.2), bench points per game (24.1), free throw attempts per game (18.28), free throws made per game (7.2), rebound margin (7.2), offensive rebounds per game (14.2), rebounds per game (40.86) and scoring offense (66.9).
- ETSU is 26-46 all-time against the Paladins. However, the Bucs downed the Paladins, 78-59, at Brooks Gym earlier this season. If the Bucs knock off Furman on Saturday, it'll mark the first time that they have swept the season series from the Paladins in back-to-back years since 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
