SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 20, 2024) – The Southern Conference announced on Tuesday that ETSU women's tennis player Daniela Rivera was named the SoCon Player of the Week. It marks Rivera's first weekly award of her career and the third this season for ETSU.
 
Rivera led the way for the Bucs last week as they picked up a pair of wins. In Thursday's victory over UNCG, Rivera won ETSU's first singles point against the Spartans (6-0, 6-2) and won her doubles match with partner Fernanda Carvajal (6-2). On Saturday, Rivera helped the Bucs knock off previously unbeaten Lipscomb. Rivera and Carvajal teamed up again on a doubles win (6-1). The junior from Venezuela also won her singles match (6-0, 6-7, 6-3) to put ETSU on the verge of clinching the match at 3-1. 
 
Rivera and the rest of the Bucs will be back in action this Sunday when it hosts Western Carolina in a SoCon clash. First serve for that tilt is set for 3 p.m.
