JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 14, 2024) – The ETSU women's tennis team will prep for a pair of matches over the next three days. First, the Bucs will open their SoCon schedule with a road matchup at UNC Greensboro on Thursday. Following its contest with the Spartans, ETSU will return to Johnson City for its home opener against Lipscomb on Saturday. Thursday's match is set for 1 p.m. start time, while Saturday's is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m.
ETSU's record currently sits at 1-4 on the 2024 spring season. In their last match, the Bucs fell on the road at No. 19 Tennessee, 7-0. The match before that, however, the Bucs got their first win of the season with a 4-0 triumph over Middle Tennessee State.
UNCG is still looking for its first win of the 2024 campaign as its record stands at 0-5. Sydney Bly and Lauren Thomson lead the way for the Spartans with a pair of singles victories a piece. Lipscomb, meanwhile, is 6-0 this spring. The Bisons have defeated UAB, Tennessee State, Murray State, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State and Chattanooga in their 6-0 start.
The Buccaneers have held the historic edge against both UNCG and Lipscomb. ETSU is 14-2 all-time against the Spartans and 14-1 against the Bisons. UNCG's last win against the Bucs came in 2003, while Lipscomb's lone victory against ETSU came in 2019 in Nashville, 4-1.
