MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (Feb. 1, 2024) – The ETSU women's tennis team will open the month of February on Friday when it visits Middle Tennessee State in non-conference action. First serve between the Buccaneers and Blue Raiders is set for 2 p.m.
Live Stats and
video will both be available for following on Friday.
ETSU enters Friday's match in Murfreesboro with a 0-3 record on the spring season. However, the Bucs have had a tough schedule early on with all three of their matches coming against Power Five opponents (Kentucky, Clemson, Virginia Tech). Even against the stiff competition, the Bucs took multiple points in all three matches and dropped the matchup against Clemson by one, 4-3.
MTSU, meanwhile, has compiled a record of 3-2 this spring. The Blue Raiders own victories against Jacksonville State (4-3), Chattanooga (6-1) and Louisville (4-3).
Overall, ETSU and MTSU have matched up 19 times over the years with the first meeting occurring in the mid-1970s. The Blue Raiders hold the historic edge against the Bucs winning 12 of the 19 matches. However, ETSU has come away with wins over Middle Tennessee State in each of the last three years including a
4-0 win last April in Johnson City.
