Fernanda Carvajal was named the Conference's Player of the Week. This marks Carvajal's first weekly honor of her career.
Carvajal won her singles match in the season opener at Kentucky against Ellie Eades, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-3. Carvajal, who was playing out of the No. 2 singles position, along with her doubles partner
Daniela Rivera were tied 4-4 with the 36
th-ranked doubles team of Makayla Mills and Elizabeth Stevens before the match stopped due to the Wildcats clinching the doubles point.
Carvajal and the rest of the Bucs will return to action on Friday when they visit Clemson in non-conference action. First serve for that match is set for 5 p.m.
